The 8 Top Winter 2024 Nail Trends, From Icy Blue to "Wicked" Green

These manicures will be popular

Your nails are one of the most important elements to consider as you're planning your winter beauty looks. Will you go sparkly or matte? Nail art or simple? Of course, there's also a whole spectrum of winter nail colors to keep in mind when you hit the salon. No matter what vibe you're feeling right now, we've rounded up the eight winter 2024 nail trends to try as you head into the holiday season and beyond below.

Metallic Accents

"A hint of silver, chrome, or rose gold can add just the right amount of shimmer for holiday parties without going overboard," says Sara Kardan, co-CEO and founder of Majesty’s Pleasure, a social beauty club in New York and Toronto. "It’s the perfect nail accessory to bring a little glow to any winter look."

Bold and Bright

If you prefer a single-color manicure, you're right on trend. "This season, we’re seeing a lot of intense, single-color manicures in rich, eye-catching tones," says Kardan. "Iconic Red and Electric Blue from The Gel Bottle, for example, are such statement shades—bold yet timeless. These colors add an energetic pop and feel right at home with winter’s darker wardrobe, making them perfect for anyone wanting a chic, polished look."

Icy Blues and Whites

"Cool-toned pastels like icy blue and frosty whites are making a splash this season," says Kardan. "These shades feel refreshing and wintery, like a crisp, frosty morning, and bring a little bit of that winter magic to your nails." Plus, she adds that blue works as a transition shade into the new year: "Its cool, calming vibe works for both festive celebrations and those fresh starts we’re all craving come January."

Velvet and Cat-Eye Finishes

"Velvet nails are having a moment this winter—think rich, deep shades like midnight blue, forest green, and burgundy," says Kardan. "These colors give that cozy, wrapped-up vibe, but for something a little extra, the cat-eye effect is taking this trend to another level."

Wicked Green

With the movie musical finally hitting theaters on Thanksgiving, expect deep greens—like the shades star Cynthia Erivo has been wearing—to dominate even more than they usually do this time of year.

Starry Night

Celestial nail art nods to the season without being overtly kitschy. Go for a dark and moody base color to evoke the night sky, or if you want a lighter take, try these press-ons by Lottie London for a quick and easy at-home mani.

Iridescent

If you want a little extra fun for your mani, a jewel-like top coat adds a festive layer to any color polish and requires no special skills.

Jeweled and Embellished

Extra credit for 3-D nail jewelry like Chappell Roan's. But if you need to type on a computer or just want something a little more everyday-friendly, stick-on adhesive jewels or charms like these from Urban Outfitters have the same energy.
